What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)?

DBT Skills Groups are designed for individuals struggling with emotional dysregulation—difficulty managing emotions in healthy ways. Emotional dysregulation may include:

  • Overwhelming, intense emotions

  • Impulsive or self-destructive behaviors

  • Emotional numbness or detachment

  • Suicidal thoughts or self-harm

  • Relationship challenges and conflicts

If this sounds familiar, DBT skills can help you break negative patterns and manage emotions more effectively.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based approach that supports individuals in reducing problematic behaviors and improving overall well-being. The curriculum includes four key modules:

  • Mindfulness: Recognize and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment.

  • Distress Tolerance: Handle difficult situations without harmful coping strategies.

  • Emotion Regulation: Manage intense emotions before they become overwhelming.

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Build healthy relationships and communicate your needs clearly.
